Homes.com Local Market Index – Core Based Statistical Areas (CBSAs)

The Homes.com Local Market Index measures price performance of repeat sale properties for the Top 100 and the Midsize Core Based Statistical Areas (CBSAs) in the United States, which are based on the population ranking from the U.S. Census Bureau.  The Midsize CBSAs are defined as Core Based Statistical Areas ranked 101 to 300 in population size. The CBSAs are classified into four regions, and then by nine divisions within each region of the United States. The regions are: Midwest, Northeast, South, and West. The regions are then broken down into divisions:

  • Midwest: East North Central, West North Central
  • Northeast: Mid Atlantic, New England
  • South: East South Central, South Atlantic, West South Central
  • West: Mountain, Pacific
